Cuttin Edge Sweet 4 bean with ham
Originally I saw this recipe in a BBQ magazine and prepared it. It was a big hit at work, picnics and family gatherings. It’s sweet, hardy, very easy to make, colorful in serving dish, and does not create a large mess in the kitchen to prepare.

  • 2 cups 1/2-inch cubes cooked ham
  • 1 15-ounce can diced tomatoes in juice, drained
  • 1 15-ounce can pork and beans
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 15-ounce can butter beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 15-ounce can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 large onion, chopped (1/4? pieces)
  • 1 large red bell pepper, chopped (1/4?pieces)
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped (1/4?pieces)
  • 1/2 cup (packed) dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Pepsi    (Cola or Root beer are both good)
  • 1/2 cup lemon-lime soda (7 up or Sierra Mist)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried savory (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

In the same large pan,   start with sautéing the onions until clear, add in the bell peppers until soft then add the ham. Pour in the rest of the ingredients and bring mixture to a boil over a medium to high heat stirring to prevent burning. When the mixture begins to boil reduce heat to simmer continue to stir occasionally to prevent burning.
